OUR LOCATION
Man Mo Temple erected in 1847, was once served as an informal court of justice, is now a tourist spot in the area.
In 1894 nearly 2,500 people died in the plague epidemic. This area, then named TaiPingShan district, was the most seriously infected spot. The whole area was rebuilt and later redeveloped into Blake Garden.
In the neighbourhood there are some important sites:
The Hong Kong Museum of Medical Sciences, is the former Bacteriological Institute, established in 1906, it was the first purpose-built medical laboratory in Hong Kong, to tackle the plague outbreak. http://www.hkmms.org.hk
Possession Point/Possession Street where British troops first landed in Hong Kong Island on 26 January, 1841¡K
The area is filled with interesting temples for different deities and local shops like coffin Shops, paper offering and Incense Shops, dried seafood and herbal shops and the famed curio shops on Hollywood Road.
